Wall Planning Group (WPG) is proud to have been a part of the project team, developing a Social Impact Evaluation (SIE) for the proposed Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre, which is slated to be a part of the 2032 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Brisbane.
The Moreton Bay Regional Council and The Mill at Moreton Bay sought professional expertise for the social impact aspect of their Project Validation Report, which is to ensure that the project is cost effective, fit for purpose, relevant to the catchment communities, and deliverable.
Wall Planning Group assessed the baseline statistics of the surrounding communities and, additionally, the extended catchment area anticipated to access this facility both before and after the Olympic Games. The SIE looked at social values, negative impacts requiring mitigation, opportunities for both the project and communities, and provided evaluations and recommendations to the Project.
UNRIVALLED SUCCESS:
The SIE was a part of the submission to the Sports Venue Review, which has recommended the development go ahead with an increased capacity. The facility earned a very rare GREEN rating - the only Olympic venue to date to have received this.
